Living in Germantown MD - Why?
After coaching football for more than a decade, I made a career change. My family and I moved to Maryland first and then I figured out what that change was going to be. I decided on a career in real estate and needed a place that we liked and felt was appropriate to raise our oldest daughter (before little sis came into the picture). We decided on Germantown. But why?
1) We could be close to family for the first time in years. My wife grew up in Gaithersburg, MD and had a decent grasp on what Germantown offered. Her family was still in the area so we thought it would be nice to get some help with the kid(s) and get to see loved ones more regularly.
2) Diversity! In my new career, I went all in on researching the area. What I saw/found was that Germantown is one of the most diverse places to live in MD & in all of the USA. Germantown is diverse in so many ways from race, religion, cultures, foods, housing types, etc. This is also such a melting pot of job/career paths as well.
3) Proximity to everything DC. We wanted to be close to cool stuff. DC and the surrounding area is FULL of good stuff to do and see. Playgrounds, parks, pools, hiking trails, Sugarloaf Mountain, etc.
BONUS) Activities for the whole family! The local Library is a favorite place for my kids. Adventure playground and the splash park in South Germantown Park are fun & affordable activities. You can also catch a performance or a class at the BlackRock Center.
