All agents are not created equal

Today we are talking about the first time home buyer agent. Every agent doesn’t fit into a mold so you need to find the best agent for YOU.

Who’s the best agent for YOU?

Everybody gives first time home buyers information about the process. In today’s video I’m teaching you how to build your dream team & that starts with your agent!. NAR stats show the home search process starts online for a majority of people. Ultimately, most people use an agent to help them buy their first home

How to pick the right agent

What you are looking for is someone you trust. A great way to build trust is get to know potential realtor partners

Look at their videos & social media content to make sure they provide what you are looking for. If they only sell $1M+ homes and you are more comfortable in the $150K price point, this may not be a fit)

Schedule a call to get your questions answered. This is two fold because you also get to test their knowledge & ability to find answers. You need someone who can help you navigate the process. you also have to see if they are willing to work with you.

Some agents only work with sellers. Make sure you are getting the care you deserve and need.

Some agents have a team. Some team leaders will get you signed to an agency agreement and delegate your file to a teammate. This isn't necessarily bad, but if it could be if you don't mesh with your newly assigned "handler"

Your agent HELPS YOU build your team

A good agent has the relationships with people you need

Lenders. If you don’t have one, your agent should have people they use and trust

Inspectors. They let you know any issues with the property. Preferred agents get preferential treatment with scheduling and maybe a realtor discount

Title. They facility the closing. They can be a great resource for recommending legal counsel (a lot of time, in-house)

Contractors. You may want to paint or have a deck built or add an addition or a house cleaner. Your realtor should be able to connect you

These are just a few examples of the ways your real estate agent should be able to help you throughout the home buying process. If your agent isn’t providing you with the guidance and care you need and deserve you may want to consider a change.
